Be the Change: How the Spotlight Dance Team Brought Magic to Our Hearts

On August 9th, something truly magical happened. The Spotlight Dance Team from Maureen’s School of Dance graced the stage for their annual Be the Change performance at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, and what they created was nothing short of extraordinary. More than just a showcase of talent, this event was a shining example of compassion, teamwork, and the power of community to make a lasting impact.

Through their artistry and dedication, these incredible dancers raised an astounding $12,061.88 in support of Children’s Assistive Technology Service (C.A.T.S.). With every graceful movement and every heartfelt performance, they weren’t just dancing—they were changing lives. Their efforts help children across Virginia receive the assistive technology they need to thrive, equipment that can otherwise be financially out of reach for families.

The performance was filled with passion, joy, and a strong sense of connection. You could feel the love in the room—not only for dance, but for making the world a more inclusive place for children of all abilities. It was a reminder that when people come together, fueled by passion and purpose, the results are truly magical.

We are beyond grateful to Maureen’s School of Dance and their Spotlight Dance Team for showing what it means to be the change. Their generosity and dedication leave an impact far beyond the stage, and their support ensures that children in our community have access to life-changing technology.

To the dancers, their families, and everyone who helped make this event possible—thank you. You brought magic to our hearts, and your kindness will continue to ripple out into the lives of children and families across Hampton Roads and beyond.
