Bill Mirenda, MD

Dr. Bill Mirenda is a retired Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon.  He was born and raised outside Philadelphia.   He attended Penn State University and Jefferson Medical College.  He completed two years of General Surgery training at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He served his Orthopaedic Residency at Jefferson in Philadelphia and at AI DuPont Institute in Wilmington Delaware.  He served fellowships in Pediatric Orthopaedics in West Germany and in England.

He practiced at Roanoke Orthopaedic Center for almost 25 years, and then spent 15 years as Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics for the Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania.  He retired back to Roanoke in 2020 where he plays golf with his wife and dotes on his grandchildren.

He says ” In my practice, I saw children everyday that required adaptive equipment to achieve their highest level of function.   In today’s world, many families struggle to obtain and maintain access to this equipment for their children.   Most private and public insurances have gaps in coverage that block families from replacing damaged or outgrown equipment- often for many, many months.  Children who have achieved improvements by way of intensive therapy or surgery may lose those gains while waiting for their replacement equipment.”
