Children’s Assistive Technology Service (C.A.T.S.)

We collect, refurbish, and distribute donated pediatric adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, standers, strollers, and speech devices and provide it to children at no cost to families across Virginia. Every $1 donated delivers roughly $5 in equipment value to the community.

How C.A.T.S. Works

  1. Collect: Families, hospitals, and vendors donate gently used pediatric equipment.
  2. Refurbish: Skilled volunteers and retired engineers repair, sanitize, and customize; 3D printing fills parts gaps.
  3. Redeploy: Our team matches requests to inventory and moves items between sites so the right device is available fast.
  4. Deliver: Equipment goes to children and families at no cost—reducing isolation and increasing inclusion at school and in the community.
