Thank You FCIDD and SML Civitan Club for Helping Us Build a Better Path to Access

At C.A.T.S. (Children’s Assistive Technology Service), we believe every child deserves timely access to the assistive technology they need to learn, communicate, move, and participate fully in life. Today, we’re excited to celebrate a milestone that will help us serve even more children across Virginia and to recognize the incredible partners who made it possible.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Foundation for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (FCIDD) and the Smith Mountain Lake Civitan Club for their generous support of our website update platform. Through a grant from FCIDD and from the Smith Mountain Lake Civitan Club, C.A.T.S. was able to launch a completely redesigned website and modernized online platform that transforms how families and clinicians connect with our services.

Our new website is far more than a fresh look. It was designed with accessibility, efficiency, and the needs of Virginia families in mind.

With these improvements, families can more easily explore available pediatric assistive technology, submit equipment requests, upload documentation, and stay connected throughout the request process.

Behind the scenes, enhanced inventory management and reporting tools allow our staff to work more efficiently, helping us reduce administrative barriers so we can focus on what matters most: getting life changing assistive technology into the hands of children.

Every day, C.A.T.S. serves families with diverse needs and experiences. Some are navigating assistive technology for the very first time, while others are seasoned advocates working alongside pediatric specialists. Our updated platform better supports these families by improving accessibility, strengthening communication, and creating a more secure, user friendly experience for everyone who relies on our services.

For families living in rural or underserved communities, these digital improvements are especially meaningful. Easier online access helps reduce barriers, shortens wait times, and connects children with the equipment they need regardless of where they live.

This investment is about much more than technology. It is an investment in children, families, and the future of accessible care across Virginia.

To the Foundation for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and the Smith Mountain Lake Civitan Club, thank you for believing in our mission and investing in the infrastructure that helps us fulfill it. Your generosity will have a lasting impact, allowing us to serve more children with greater efficiency while ensuring every family has an easier path to the assistive technology their child deserves.
