A Sibling’s Love: A Heartwarming Donation to Hallowheels 2024

In the spirit of love, family, and unwavering dedication, we are honored to share the story of a remarkable young sponsor for Hallowheels 2024, Holden, whose brother Brayden is completely disabled with a rare genetic disorder and has been using C.A.T.S. services since they moved here in 2016. At just nine years old, Holden, a compassionate sibling, has made an impact that reaches far beyond any dollar amount. Inspired by the difference assistive technology has made in his own family and from the mind of a 9 year old (“I just want to help other kids that need it”), he donated $100 of his hard-earned allowance money to support Hallowheels and the mission of Children’s Assistive Technology Service (C.A.T.S.), by being a “Ghost” sponsor.

For Holden, Hallowheels isn’t just another event—it’s personal. He has watched firsthand as assistive technology provided by C.A.T.S. has empowered his sibling to gain independence, confidence, and a world of experiences they can now share together. Whether it’s joining in family activities or participating in adventures that previously felt out of reach, assistive technology has been a game-changer, allowing his family to embrace each moment more fully. He can play basketball, go for walks, watches his brother play adaptive sports, swim and do many more activities together but also cheers his brother on in his own activities.  For him, this donation represents a thank you—a way to give back to the organization that has helped his family feel whole.

His generous donation symbolizes more than a financial contribution; it speaks to the profound gratitude, love, and support shared among siblings of children with disabilities. He knows that his contribution will help other families access the same life-changing technology, allowing more children to connect, explore, and thrive alongside their loved ones. At such a young age, Holden said,

“Kids with special needs, need more assistance to their worlds than I do.”

As we celebrate this incredible gesture, we hope it inspires others to join our mission, recognizing the tremendous impact C.A.T.S. has on families across our community. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps C.A.T.S. provide assistive technology to children with disabilities—at no cost to their families. This selfless act from a nine-year-old is a reminder of the power we all have to make a difference, and the ripple effect that can happen when we step up for each other.

Let’s come together to support our young hero and the countless families who rely on assistive technology to create unforgettable experiences. With every vote, sponsorship, and donation to Hallowheels, we are building a more inclusive, connected world for children with disabilities and their families.

To infinity, beyond, and into the hearts of all who believe in a brighter future—thank you for being a part of our mission.

Thanks for voting!
