Smith Mountain Lake Civitan Club has made a $20,455.00 donation to CATS for the purpose of providing a Hub Scrub to the location serving the Roanoke Valley in Moneta. The Hub Scrub will greatly assist the work of CATS volunteers who clean and disinfect donations of gently used equipment coming from families whose children have outgrown it. The Hub Scrub resembles a giant dishwasher for durable medical equipment, and allows for UV radiation for disinfecting.

The Disability Law Center of Virginia and the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) announced that Children\’s Assistive Technology Service (CATS) has been nominated for a disAbility Impact Award. CATS was nominated for its efforts during the pandemic.

As the founder of C.A.T.S., Cathie Cummins volunteered to serve in the role of executive director, but in it\’s 7th year, the time has come for C.A.T.S. to have a professional CEO. After working tirelessly to create and grow the organization, Cathie is ready to retire. C.A.T.S. is therefore pleased to announce that John Naples, senior program manager, will take over as interim executive director as of January 1, 2021.
